This was amazing. I absolutely loved every episode thus far and this episode was nothing short of great. I also think Arnheid is not only her own person of course whom Einar loved and were friends of everyone else, but was also a representation of all the innocents that died along the way. So it's fitting for them to say imo that they'll do it for Arnheid.

The conclusion to this amazing arc was perfect. The OSTs throughout the episode were phenomenal too, especially during Canute and Thtorfin's negotiation. I love how Mappa postponed the handshake scene between Einar and Throfinn and included it in such an ideal part of the arc. I LOVE THIS SHOW and this is probably one of my favourite arcs in all animanga.

The most difficult peace proposal to believe.

“If the place does not exist, I will create it myself! Brother, come with me.”
It was incredible to see the development and conclusion of these two incredible characters, who, with such divergent ideas, reached a consensus, consideration, and respect. The king's change of countenance was such a relaxed, genuine reaction, just like ours. King Canute, despite having adverse ideals, was definitely an excellent antagonist and friend to Thorffin.
Nor could I fail to mention the important relationship of friendship and brotherhood built between Einar and Thorffin over the course of this vast arc. This bond completely changed the protagonist, having a strong impact on the way he saw the world.

A Masterpiece of an episode.
Are you really excited for Season 3? Balatic Sea War is the worst arc in the series.
Just because it´s the worst one does not mean its not good. At least the folks who complained about how little action there was this season will have a decent meal for next season lol

So those who have read the manga. What is your thoughts on the change they made with Thorfinn not having a swollen face from all of the punches he received? Do you think it makes it better or worse for the conext of the scenes and the realism of injuries?

I don't think it matters much. The swollen face in the manga felt way too goofy anyway.

Agreed. I feel like you couldn't have done the swollen face deal with how they changed the order of events. The handshake of power over Arnheid's grave had too much weight and emotional gravitas to have that kind of comedy happening at the same time.

The power of that infamous "talk no jutsu" not only can save the day, but even allow a ruler to grow. Kinda meh moment, reminding me of Naruto, but whatever. It's not like this show never had any shounen-like elements.

Apart from that, good episode. I'm glad that we got a happy ending. Sure, many people died in this short conflict, but look how many could be saved. Pater is alive, Snake and his men found tranquility (and at least in Snake's case, he ceased to be ashamed of his real name), Thorfinn left to his homeland with Leif and Einar on the board. Really heartwarming ending of this arc.

One episode left.

Adnash dude, I have to point this out since it's recurring in almost all your posts for this show.
You say that you "don't mind the shounen elements" because you're used to them in Vinland Saga, but you're constantly mentioning them. That sorta sounds like to me that you don't like the shounen elements?

Calm down, it's not a big deal. Not even most of posts about Vinland Saga Season 2 written by me were about this. Will you also "have to point out" each person greatly liking most of this season's episodes, simply because that's something recurring in various threads? ;)

Not constantly. Only when they occur in an episode, and there were not a lot of them in this season.

As for liking or disliking shounen elements, just like I said in my post - I don't mind them myself. You could find people complaining about "shounen fans of Season 1", calling them as haters of "mature seinen Season 2" (even though not all of them were really haters; it's okay to not like a show, after all), so I'd suggest focusing on their recurring rants, perhaps.

On a side note, you can hear fans calling this show as "seinen-heavy" here or there, but even the original author himself - from what I heard - doesn't care about adding humor and crazy action to his own manga. I find it funny when some of them are tryharding their best to pretend that those elements didn't exist in the manga (I've checked some omitted or altered comedy scenes; they weren't that bad).

Same goes with concluding many conversations with hostile phrase of "grow up, it's a mature element you don't get, kiddo". It's not like being an adult is equal to not laughing or having fun of seeing goofy stuff, heh. ;) I believe Vinland Saga wanted to convey this message as well. You could see Thorfinn being able to laugh and smile, or rather remembering how to do it after staying hollow for so long as a slave. Why are there many angry fans not sharing this thought, or spitting right away on Thorfinn's (or I should say Thors') idea of a life in peace with other people, no matter who they are and what they believe in (here it'd be prolly something like "no matter what is their opinion on Vinland Saga anime")? No idea.

Truly beautiful. A masterpiece. If only more people from around the world could see this show and not see it as just an "anime", I am convinced it would be considered a masterpiece.

Did not expect a character like Einar to appear but am I glad he did. They are truly brothers, moving forward towards Vinland in memory of Arnheid.

And that goodbye with the people from Ketil's farm was good. Olmar will become a great man. He's finally seen what a real man is supposed to be like. It's not his father, nor his brother. It's like Thorfinn, and Thors before him. Even Snake was moved to the point where he gave them his real name.

And now for the long-awaited reunion between Thorfinn and his family. I can't wait. I hope a S3 is in the works.

“Engrave that Encounter Upon Me”…

Vinland Saga S2 is so beautiful…and perfectly told. This is truly a
Story of redemption. After everything we’ve witnessed these past 23 episodes, we’ve seen all the character develop. We’ve also seen how Thorfinn has positively impacted others around him, while remaining true to himself and his ideals. I’m happy he finally decided to go to the land on other side of the sea. Leif did it!

As for Canute, I still can’t stand him, but as a king, I can understand. I respect him for respecting Thorfinn by leaving the island and giving his Denmark soldiers freedom.

This was breathtaking and could have easily been the final episode (thank goodness it's not). The clashing of Thorfinn's & Canute's developing ideals is phenomenal because rather than reaching an impasse, they have both adapted their thinking and continue to develop because of that exchange. Olmar's growth really got to me and hey, it was sweet to see that farm girl by his side as he begins to pull his weight (with the help of a horse or two).

No it was not. Worst you could say it was predictable. Whole arc especially Canute's plotline was set up for this moment. To say it was some random bullshit talk-no-jutsu moment shows that you didnt get it.

Thorfinn really changed Canute's thinking. I guess Canute has become more 'trusting' in a sense. Now he has kind of won the trust of the England region too. I presume that from now on, Canute will try to take even less brutal and violent actions than what he already does.

As said before, Thorfinn and Einar's current dream is to find Vinland and make it a peaceful place. A place where they can convince people to come along with them.

So Snake's true identity is Roald, son of Grim. I wonder if this info will be important in the future.

Damn, Olmar and the guards have really changed. They have adopted a simple way of life, not revolving around violence. Snake always had a soft side to him and was mature but I'm so damn happy with Olmar's development. He has truly become a better man. From being one of my least favourite characters in the series to being one of the best.

Where is Thorgil headed to? Is he leaving the country or something?

Idk how much more involved Canute is with the story in future arcs, but I hope it is minimal; This felt like a fitting conclusion to his character arc. To me it seems like his conversation with Thorfinn allowed him to move on from his father's spooky talking head.

Also loved hearing Canute's laugh. Shout out to Kensho Ono for that performance.

Thorfinn sure has his way with words, he even made Canute laugh lol

“You’re a beautiful man” we all can agree with that

“I won’t fight” what a true warriors ways

He left, it’s incredible what a conversation can do. Canute, you did the right thing. You didn’t become like your dad. And it’s all thanks to Thorfinn.

Thorfinn never ceases to amaze me. They’re definitely going to do an amazing job at building a country like that.

Snake aka Roald, I’m sad we won’t see him anymore. I also forgot Roald got the old gramps farm lmao
